did we learn nothing from the duke lacrosse rape case?

After reading some of these answers, apparently I'm the only person that still believes in innocent until proven guilty. That said what do i think of Vick being indicted. Wait and see, if he is found guilty (95% of federal cases result in conviction) I hope he is given just as severe of a penalty that any normal american would get and be barred from competing in the NFL. If he is found innocent, I hope all these people dogpiling on him and assuming he's guilty till proven innocent will be apologizing to him and his family.

Presumption of innocence is a legal right that the accused in criminal trials has in many modern nations. It states that no person shall be considered guilty until finally convicted by a court. The burden of proof is thus on the prosecution, which has to convince the court that the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. In principle, the defense does not have to 'prove' anything. However, the defense may present evidence tending to show that there is a doubt as to the guilt of the accused.

Conversely, in many authoritarian regimes the prosecution case is, in practice, believed by default unless the accused can prove he is innocent, a practice called presumption of guilt. Many people believe that presumption of guilt is unfair and even immoral because it allows the strategic targeting of any individual, since it's often difficult to firmly establish proof of innocence (for example, it's often impossible to establish an alibi if the person is home alone at the time of the crime).

this is the law, for those of you that have no respect for it please get out of my country, for you do not deserve the constution, those that do not believe in this can go to a middle east country and live under their authoritarian regimes

This is a blessing for football fans if Vick gets jail time. He deserves it for cruelty to animals. But he also deserves to be put of out the league for making a mockery of the quaterback position.

When my Detroit Lions can consistantly beat someone, then you really know they suck and Michael Vick is horrible as a quarterback!!!

He should have been a receiver all these years. He's been way too overhyped and all he is, is a fast runner.

Looks like now he'll need that speed to get away from Bubba and the Boys in prison.

I used to love watching Micheal Vick play. Now from now on whenever I see him play, I'm only going to see him as a sick bastard who cruelly kills innocent dogs because it didn't win him and his homies any cash. I agree that due process should be served. He needs to be the poster child of what happens when you inhumanly treat animals. But in the end I hope that the law sides with the poor dogs who died at the hand of this newly minted monster.

Well, a conviction would be even better.

If he did that all to dogs, then I think he should have to endure the same sort of treatment that was administered to his dogs - like hangings, shootings, beatings, and the like. And then let him get into the ring with a savage that only wants to kill him -

Hey! Is OJ still willing to do some work for the NFL???

Mike Vick should be forced to fight an offensive lineman, and if he loses he should be either shot, electrocuted, or slammed into the ground multiple times. He is a lower animal than any of those dogs he tortured and killed.

That he was indicted, and could possibly be convicted. If he did do it then he will be punished by law. That's all i think of it, there are worse things being done, and i bet he isn't the only NFL player that could possibly be involved in dogfighting.

I think it's the best news I've heard in a long time. I hope the feds have enough evidence to convict the scumbag.

I think he'll get off I'm sure he probably has a plan in place in case of this with all his money and lawers. Even though it looks bad there probably won't be enough conclusive evidence to send him to jail.

I think he's a moron. Possibly ruining a great career for dog-fighting. Some of these stars, and "role models" have no common sense at all. If they do, it's that of a flea.
