I would imagine that there are some wives, you can never really make happy. It is the "old fashion way", that the husband is the main provider for his wife & family. Therefore, in return , providing for her, should make her happy. But, it is an "even steven" thing that both should work at, ALL the time. We are all individuals. Each man must decide on his own priorities whether it is to develop and sustain a loving/supportive relationship with his wife, to feed his professional ambitions or to share his time between a number of priorities.
No his main job is not to make his wife happy. He might contribute to his wife's happiness (if he's married) but it is up to the wife how she feels, she can't depend on others to make her life happy for her.

A mans purpose not his job is to live a happy full life. You chose your wife. So your happiness is now dependent on both of you. Yours with her and hers with you. No one ever said it was easy.
