I'm an American of German, Welsh and French descent. I love Brits because of their dry sense of humor. But am I stereotyping here? I don't mean to offend. But want would an American do that would drive you nuts.

We hate Americans because generally the only ones we see are stupid music artists who thank god for everything and tourists who have no concept of the words "reserved" and "manners".

Of course there is also the whole world police thing. But personally I think that's because we used to own half the world and don't anymore and you lot own half the world now..or at least control it.

I personally hate Americans because I was married to one and she does my head in.

If it helps I think the English hate the French more than the Yanks. The scots hate the English due to an inferiority complex they have and the Welsh hate everyone except sheep that can't run very fast....

As a general overview, the only time we hat ethe americans is when the ejits in the militaru blow us up, which they did waaaaay too much of in iraq.

Other than that, we don't you. We have a bit of contempt at the way your government and media plays you all like a fiddle, but thats really a gripe against the government, not the people.

I guess the only thing that grates us the accent at times! But I'm pretty sure if you dropped a yank in glasgow there wouldn't be many nice things said about us!

Lets be honest though, the only thing we REALLY hate is the moron running the place! Bring back Clinton, hey, he managed to run a country and still get some extra head on the side. GO CLINTON!

I have no reason to dislike the majority of americans themselves, it's just certain aspects of their culture that I don't get.
I don't understand the excess of the american culture, the whole idea that everything has to be bigger and better. It seems such a waste.
Also, I'm not really into guns at all and don't believe that people should be allowed to keep them in their homes.
What I do LOVE (yes really LOVE) is the approach to education.
I love the idea of young people graduating instead of all this G.C.S.E and A.Level nonsense and the way everyone is encouraged to get involved with school activities. They also seem to have alot more respect for their parents and people in authority than british children but don't be offended I'm sure there are plenty of british kids who are just as respectful.

I don't see the point of hating Americans, They sometimes irritate me but I am sure I do the same to them. I do not particularly like French or Germans but I do not hate them.
I feel the same way about other races. Being a Brit I can sure as hell find an intense dislike bordering on hatred for some fellow Brits

remember the short squat sheriff from the James Bond movie Live & Let Die ? - this is what most Brits tend to think a yank is like [remember there is a lot of Brits who have never met a yank]
then you have a very aggressive foreign policy, always seem to drag Britain into it, and friendly-fire incidents dont help
then you harp on about freedom of speech, but never exactly do anything you have been talking about [think climate change]
then we see your "presence" wherever we go - think McDonalds next to the Pyramids of Giza [have you no respect?]
your "throw-away" society and mass-consumerism adding to the woes of the planet
and your large institutions that always twist the truth showing how "America won the war" type attitude - think Hollywood & U571
shall I keep going on ?
[by the way - I actually have some good friends who are yanks - i just know how you annoy us]

I've noticed alot of people on here are really quite racist and kicking up at people, seams very narrow minded. I would say that unfortuanitly your president is a fool, obviously a bit gun-ho and not too much up top, but i think ifs the in your face and loud disposition of americans that can sometimes get peoples backs up, personally i think everyone should be treated equally till they prove themselfs, which generally means, dont like anyone till they give you a reason to, i think its a defensive thing lol

When I went to London recently: it is the war that the US started and Tony Blair got Britain sucked into, our pisspoor excuse for foreign policy, and the way most Americans go on and on about how great America is like an ostrich with its head in the sand.
Also, we have "freedoms" that we go on and on about, but in reality don't have. My Brit husband speaks his mind and Americans go nuts--file grievances, say he is rude, fire him, etc. He doesn't get it--we have freedom of speech as long as we don't say anything. The minute you open your mouth--everything you say can be used against you!

That's a stereotype. Of course there are the few Brits who think Americans are stuck up and have no morals, but I'd say a majority think the opposite.
