The United States spends 50 to 100% more on administration than single payer systems. By lowering these administrative costs the United States would have the ability to provide universal health care, without managed care, increase benefits and still save money.

it would probably be about the same cost. every other industrialized nation (and some non-industrialized ones) have national health care. and they spend about half as much as the usa to provide what is generally considered better service.
now you can trade anecdotal evidence all day about who's system is better but the fact is that half as much money pays for just as good or better health care in 36 other nations. that's a fact.
the reason u.s. health care is so expensive is not because the care is better (it's obviously not) iss because most of the money you spend each month on health care goes towards administrative costs. the majority of it going to medical underwriters. these are people employed by insurance companies. their entire job is to find a reason to deny you health care. less health care means more money for the insurance company. so you and i and everyone else are paying a company to figure out a way to deny us the service that they are supposed to be providing.

Everyone talks about how our schools, roads, military (lack of proper gear), DMV, Police, INS, and all other government services suck and then in the next statement say they want a government run health care: I don't see the logic. Your 260.00 would buy you a six month wait for open emergency heart surgery. i don't know if you remember but there have been occasions when government offices have shut down due to failure of the politicians to pass a budget before funds dried up, is this what we need? Most people who are citizens and have a full time job get insurance, those who don't might want to rethink their career choices. If you are young enough the military trains and gives medical coverage. I had to get on the military plan when I was 22 because I failed to plan when I was in high school,

You have crappy service. Governments can't provide good service. Unless you want to wait a year or two for transplants or other operations. In the long run universal health care costs more because people are more willing to go to the doctors' office. They will go if they got a cold or a hurt in their arm. This causes big time operations to go on waiting lists.

No way. That's a CRAZY premium to pay when our tax dollars could redirected to health care without making us have to pay the same as any private health insurance plan. If we can find hundreds of billions for Iraq, we could certainly have found that much to spend on SAVING lives of AMERICANS! What kind of third-world country have we become that the poor are left to DIE because they are in a for profit health care system?????????
