We were on vacation in Canada (Niagara Falls). Everything was beautiful, and the hotel was very nice. But honestly the best thing about the trip was the bed. I have never slept on a more comfortable bed in my life.

When we got home I bought a new bed, and a mattress pad, & featherbed to go on it. STILL isn't as comfy as the bed in the hotel in Canada ... lol.

Hmm, tough question! Only because I have not slept on a variety of surfaces. Indeed, if I had the luxury of owning a memory-foam mattress.... that would probably be the best of them all (tho I can't say that for sure 'cause I've never tried one).

Before now I had an old innerspring mattress, and after many years it was worn and lumpy.

Then, recently I bought a water bed. Unorthodox in the fact, it didn't have one big water sack. It has 9 long, separate water-tubes that run vertically. This way one side of the bed can be a different firmness than the other.

So far, I really enjoy the water bed. it is rather comfy (very form-fitting). If nothing else, it will certainly knock you out, and you won't realize what is going on till you wake up the next morning and you feel like you are waking up from a 1,000 year sleep.... However, a water bed is probably a bad idea for anyone with chronic back problems.. It is not the best kind of bed for firmly supporting the back.

But that has just been my personal experience. Take it as you will.

A bed on the Sea Dream I and Sea Dream II yacht, under a duvet cover. Pure bliss.

It was a hammock.

The most comfortable surface I've slept on was air (and a series of interconnecting soft netting).

A concrete floor at an Anthrax Concert with a hundred Mosh Pitters stomping on my head. It is amazing how comfortable you can be when you are knocked out cold.

Heated Marble bed. My friends mom had bought one about 10 years ago to help her back aches. When I was too drunk to drive, I would crash out on that thing and wake up feeling great!
