Yes, it would make sense to have our military rested and ready t respond to threats, rather than exhausted and overextended as part of some remedial nation building project.
But we're not even going after the terrorist when we know where they are. We're wasting our time, money and lives on unrelated and pointless occupations that only increase our risks.

Government controlled by conservatives? Uh, okay, but the top leaders are over there, and we are knocking heads off of the terrorists before they come over here.By the way, the borders are not secure because of a lot of reasons, not just "pubs". Hey, remember the "fence?" Shot down by who? And the amnesty bill was introduced by who? The left.
The pourous borders aren't republican ideas, everyone knows that it is not good this way. But then good ole kennedy and pelosi want amnesty. Great.

Nothing is keeping them out. They're probably getting in through the Mexican border. Amazing how we care more about securing some Middle eastern country than our own country.

You are forgetting why our troops are there, in the first place. Have you forgotten about the oil? The administration didn't expect to have to face so much opposition to their "help" for Iraq. Remember? They thought the Iraquis would be dancing in the street with gratitude and throwing flowers at our troops, instead of all of the crap they have been throwing at them.

Good question. They should have addressed the borders when they controlled Congress. What have Reid and Pelosi done to address the problem? The same? Nothing?

Do you have any idea what you're asking? We would need MILLIONS of soldiers to solidify our borders. We're talking walls that would dwarf the great wall of China. All the way from Maine to Seattle, a wall and soldiers. Thousands of ships posted on both coasts, and the gulf of Mexico.
Have we learned nothing from France's 'Maginot-mindedness' pre-WWII? If you focus on a defensive posture, you have to pour so many resources into it that you can't operate effectively as a modern fighting force anymore. We need to keep the enemy on the ropes, always driving him into retreat. That's how you win modern wars.

excellent point. we need to secure our borders. we have some excellent technology but we need more of it and more border patrols to work with the technology. We have the technology to see ANYTHING that crosses our borders in open areas... dog, cat, illegal... we just don't have this technology in enough places or the patrols are too spread out to respond quickly

Yeah. I agree. But every time we try and build border fences and stop people from crossing over, someone complains about it.

good question and there is nothing to keep them out except fear, and I think they are pretty brave people, however as long as we can keep them busy in Iraq and other country's it is one hell of a lot better than having them here blowing up our schools and other buildings and people,
