hire a moving company.
Ship your boxes via UPS (they have free pickup if you have many boxes), give furniture away to Salvation Army (they will pick it up too), but new furniture with delivery on new place.

Depending on how much stuff you have, being without can be an advantage. You can go further with less $ if it's just you and a backpack.
However, if you have a lot of stuff to move and a valid drivers license you could rent a uhaul.
If thats not the case you may want to liquidate your assets so you can vacate to your next choice location.
Sell your stuff and take a train.

I just recently moved out of state... I cannot drive and I didn't know anyone who would be able to take the time out of their busy schedules to drive me and my belongings from one state to another, and back, in the middle of the week... my solution was move by Gray Hound. It worked out pretty well. You are allowed to bring one carry on, and two pieces of "luggage" can go under the bus. As for the rest of your belongings... there's a storage thing called PODS... you can rent one and they bring the storage thing to your home, you put the stuff in the PODS component and they come and pick up the your PODS and you can relocate your PODS to a storage house in other states or even to your new home in other states... I have not done this myself, but a friend of mine recently did. I do not know how expensive it is... check it out on-line, or maybe you should pay some movers to move for you, and you ride a Gray Hound... Try Atlas Movers, my father used to work for them. You can pack your own belongings in boxes to save money, or if you can afford it you can have them pack your things for you while you sip some ice cold lemon-aid and sun bathe :) I hope that I could help, or at least help you think of other solutions.

You could put a ad in the paper and pay someone to drive the uhaul van for you if the distance isn't too far.

Call one of your local chrurches and see if someone would be willing to help you. Christians are all about helping people. You might just find someone there.
If not, advertise in your local paper...could be, someone wants to go to the same town you are moving too. Or hire someone to drive you there and pay there fare on a bus, back to their home...
