Television "Marquee Moon": seminal album. Minor Threat/ Bad Religion: incredible. Saw them live and they scared the hell out of me.

This is hard...i'm picking three.

1. Minor Threat because they embody everything that is hardcore punk.
2. The Clash...no reason needed.
3. Television.. more post-punk-y but I love them and they are completely underrated.

The Sex Pistols.

Punk was about being anti-establishment. This is one band that openly lived the lifestyle it espoused.

Disfunctional, nihilist, often in trouble with the law - even fighting among themselves.

I don't like punk, but truly this was a band that lived, breathed and died it. In a world full of pretenders, this is a rare thing.

television weren't really punk, but punk influences. kind of like the clash or patti smith or mc5 and so on and so forth.
most important band in punk history - sex pistols
my favorite band - bad religion, dr. graffin is amazing. mr brett has done more for punk music than anyone.
back to television. tom verlaine is one of the greatest guitarists ever. it's a damn shame television aren't in that thing they call the rock and roll hall of fame. it's a joke.

ONE band? The Clash: Even though Joe Strummer was always high and disgusting in person. The music was great and influential, unlike the Sex Pistols who were in and out. White Riot! London's Burning! Career Opportunities!

Sublime.

PUNK PUNK- NOFX

The Clash.
The Casualties.

Lovnrockets- I never liked you anyways but I just read what you said on Dani's Sublime question. Tsk tsk. TSK. Sublime is amazing. Regardless of how people THINK of Sublime, all their music was recorded WHILE BRADLEY WAS ALIVE. That's what we listen to. That's what we love. Period.

It is and always will be The Clash for me.

Others may have done it first, but they did it far better. There's a reason they were called "The Only Band That Matters".
