Yes. The days of the week on the typical calendar, in english (i'm assuming that's why you're asking) is:
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Monday-Friday are the days of a typical work-week, and Saturday and Sunday are called "the weekend."
I suppose, though, that if you were familiar with character names from both "Addam's Family" (Wednesday Adams) and King Friday from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, that it could be confusing.
There is also a term "Guy Friday" which is slang no one uses anymore. I don't quite remember what it means,though...but this story wouldn't be the appropriate use for that.
If these were names, however, proper grammar would dictate these names would be book-ended by commas, like this sentence:
"My dad, Edward, came to my school today."
not
"My dad Edward came to my school today."
If they were names, the story would have read:
"Spokane police arrested a 40-year-old man, Friday, in connection with the rape of a 68-year-old woman, Wednesday, in her apartment near Gonzaga University."
