It seems to me that they are simply stating their opinions and what they beleive is best for America. But many cons (especially on Y! A it appears) label all who dont support the war as haters of America. I always beleived that in America you could oppose what the government does or its policies and not be labeled insulting names or persocuted...guess i was wrong.

No. Just because someone does not support the war does not mean they hate America. By drawing that conclusion, one is presuming that the foundations of America are centered around war, which is grotesquely untrue.

Personally, I do not support the war. I don't think we really have a legitimate reason for being over there and I think that comparatively, we have done an immense amount of damage to the Iraqi people. However, this does not mean I hate America.

My brother is a soldier, and I support the troops 100%. They are fighting for their country in most cases, and I support that. However, I do not support the concept, or the administrations decision to go to war.

I do not hate America. I love the principles and creed that our country has been established on. It is a country for Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happisness. The concepts found in historical documents such as the Monroe Doctrine, Constitution, and the Declaration of independance have held true to our country till this day.

For these reasons, I love America, and for these reasons, I hate the war.

On a nother note, I am appaled by some of the answers here. People are blaming the "Islamics" agenda and saying that "all Iraqis" are bad. This is simply not true. Islam is a religion that is celebrated all over the world. It has ABSOLUTLY nothing to do with terrorism. It is about celebrating Mohammed, the true profit of God. All Iraqis is an unjust generalization. Man of them are grateful for our help. There are a select few who disagree with American policies and take action into their own hands. Blaming are problems on all Iraqis and Islamics is unsensitive, unjust, and downright wrong. Those people should be ashamed.

"Do people who don't support the war really hate America and the troops?"

Here's the thing. Wouldn't you have to ask the individual how s/he "really" feels? It's an absurd notion that a stranger can actually determine how someone else feels. People oppose the war for many many reasons... but I've not heard anyone say, "I hate the military and thus I oppose the war." It doesn't even make sense.

As we all know (whether we admit it or not) our troops today are NOT experiencing the shunning/hatred of the past. We as a nation are much more enlightened and are not transferring opposition to the war onto the troops because on the whole we clearly understand the difference. In fact, if you stop and take stock of the situation, you'll notice that the only time the "you're against the war so you hate the troops" idea comes up is when someone who is pro-war is criticizing an anti-war person. I think it's very sad when people stoop to that level. I have paid close attention and I have not even heard about a soldier being treated poorly due to opposition to the war. If you are pro-war, state your reasons why and make an argument based on the merits; don't attack someone who disagrees with you and try to shame people into saying they believe in something that they don't.

demonizing the other side is a tool used by people who don't want to think critically about the other person's argument. it's not limited by orientation, but by effort.

those who don't support the war aren't committed to any side about supporting the troops or hating america. it may be the case that some things go together more often than others, but it's not always the case.

i'm sure there are some people who don't support the war, the troops, or america.

but at the same time, one can disagree with the war, care deeply about the troops, and do so out of a deeply felt love for the united states.

it is not help or loss of help for the two the conflict or the troops, that variety of communicate is political rhetoric, all individuals help our vets, a minimum of with words. that's each and every individual protester's very own rejection of the horror of seeing a 19 twelve months old quadruple amputee or a grieving group of pre college little ones being consoled with the help of a youthful widow. Any genuine looking individual will instinctually sense the would desire to provide up such tragedy. that's deeper that purely ethical outrage. They sense not putting our troops in harms way "is" helping the troops. they don't understand that their is not any secure place yet, and that the battlefield ought to o.k. come to them, if we don't pass to the conflict field. Any genuine looking individual needs to end some thing that makes them sense that way. they'd't end the conflict or the lack of self assurance it brings to them so as that they protest their very own lack of ability to effect the area with the help of protesting the conflict or those working it. psychological soreness is as genuine as actual. no one needs to be certain infantrymen coming domicile in physique luggage. the sentiments generated from such activities effect protesters on a private point and rigidity them to do what they do in spite of if that action looks ineffective or illogical. Their motives are not completely because of the fact of ethical outrage at a social injustice, there's a psychological and workers rationalization for the habit besides. they don't in straightforward terms like the sentiments the media photographs generate in them, so as that they attempt and make themselves sense better with the help of protesting what's out of their conrol.

That's the problem with politics in general, being irrational. There is no logic when they say that about people who oppose the war. The troops are far more brave then i can ever be and all my support goes to them, so I don't want to hear some BS about me not supporting them from a hate-monger, neocon that believes war is the answer to all the worlds problems. The troops are doing the best job they can under the circumstances they have to face, physical and mental, so there is no need to drag them into debates for a retarded comment like we dont support the troops.

I do not believe they hate America and the troops. But there are a few on here who will blatantly state that they do, they call themselves liberal and make it harder for other liberals to state an opinion that may sound similar on points. I think we are all just frustrated from listening to the fringes of the opposite side and take it out on each other.

No Americans hate America and we all support the troops. It is a Republican directive to point fingers and to call out anyone who disagrees with their policies and points of view. Good question! It is up to all Americans to call out the Cons on their ignorance and make a stand against this ignorance and hatred. Everyone is entitled to their point of view... It is the American way!

Perfectly stated, the minute one questions our actions in Iraq, we are troop or America haters, nothing could be further from the truth.

Don't grasp the nature of the enemy we are engaged with? I full well grasp the nature of the enemy, they are vile, ego-manical men (and women) who hate Freedom and Justice. People who have stolen and murdered for power, greedy and intoxicated with it's aphrodisiac like properties. Yes, I am fully aware of the nature of the enemy in the Executive Branch. Like wise I am familiar with the weak and infirm of reason and logic that support them. I am a Veteran and it breaks my heart to see our young men and women die for the evil purposes of our enemy.
