If you placing it as secondary drive:
1. check on main drive on the back ltl pin
2. place it on CS cable select
3. do the same with another drive.
4. connect and of cable to main HDD
5. midle connector on cable to second drive.

1. you should check if there are 3 or less "ide" device attached to the computer, since the pc you described only supports ide drives unless there is a "sata" card installed.

2. next check also for an available ide cable, cause if there are only 2 ide drives connected, chances are, they may be connected to a single ide cable, so you need to purchase another "ide cable".

other than these, installing the harddrive will be a breeze. (by the way, you also need a couple of extra screw and a screwdriver.)

2 things: a) making sure the HDD uses the same cable connectors as the mainboard in the PC, ie ATA/IDE or SATA - SATA are thin cables with smaller connectors
b) if you are replacing the old HDD with the new, you will have to reinstall the OS and all the drivers for the hardware currently in the PC. If you are just adding the HDD, make sure the other HDD is set to master and the new one set to slave via the jumpers (found at the end of the HDD for IDE/ATA cable with diagram on HDD case where to put jumpers)

MAKE SURE that your your hard drive is compatible with your computer and make sure you know how to install it and to ground yourself before touching your inner system so it doesnt fry. That would be BAD!!

It's pretty easy to put in a new hard drive. Just hook it up and install your software.

you need to know what technology your mother board support like ATI, XT, etc. Also make sure you have jumper setting correctly.
