or the good for nothing Republican Party?

Is it time for a Direct Democracy in the US? Because American politicans don't seem to function all that well when their elected into office (from either party & I have a feeling a 3rd would be just as bad)?

Complete Democracy would be completely inadequate. The American people, for lack of a better word, are incompetent and ignorant. Obviously what is going on now is not good, but the American people could not fix it. We're not educated enough in politics to pull it off. It's possible that no one really is. There is no such thing as a perfect system, and I believe that a Republic is ideal for America, as long as the people are smart enough to not elect people who abuse the power of veto..ex. Bush. However, complete democracy is not the better option.

Never vote for a party who has a jackass for a mascot, or a cantidate. I remember Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. One was a fool, the other a liar . I'll vote for the party that defends the US, not apologize for it. No, not a Republican here, an unreconstructed Rebel.

Direct democracy would also be problematic, because laws would be passed by the knee-jerk reactions of uneducated voters, resulting in even more of our freedoms being curtailed.
