I am going to be just painting a name of a boat on the side and back of a boat, it doesnt have to be real perfect, just so the name is on there. And I was wondering if a could use enamel paint on the boat. I would be applying it on with an airbrush.

I went to a sigh printer and the printed the name of my boat in a color self adhisive letters 10 inches high 12 letters long for around $40. The same stuff they use on car decals. Easy to install and looks great. It is computer generated so the can do different scripts also.

Interlux Brite Kote is a good paint to use. It's pretty expensive though. You can get it in pints and it takes a special reducer.
I think the web site is yachtpaint.com. If not just google interlux paints.

Try with a small piece of decal using a hair dryer and a razor blade to peel it off. Heat usually softens up the glue and makes it pretty easy to peel off most decals. I've tried the chemical solvents, and they're messy and ineffective.
