There are no clips, and I can't find anyway to get the plastic cover off. You can only slide it a little but not enough to move it out.

Wiggle it a lot, one side probably has hooks and the other a ledge.

I have a similar light fixture to the one you are describing. It's rectangular, about 2 ft by 4 ft. I get the cover off by pushing it up toward the ceiling so it moves away from the inside edge of the molding, then carefully bending it and twisting it until it can be moved out from the lip of the molding. The cover is a bit flexible, but will still crack if too much bend is applied. Good luck.

It has a little lip on the edges that catches on the metal light frame. Bend the plastic lens gently to free the edge from the metal frame.
