"You're deeply upset aren't you? You need to get to therapy soon. "
No I am actually feeling very peaceful tonight, I read someone else answer to a different question and that is how I came up with this question. It seems to me that if all it is about is stopping the pain that it shouldn't matter because death is a fact of life, so is pain at times, stopping suicide if we are going to try to stop it for any reason must be about giving people hope, joy, and a sense of purpose for their future, not coerced or forced on them, but what I have inside at this point in time a knowing that mine and others life is right is great. This very much insults me that you would misjudge this question in this way. No, I don't need to go to a "the-rapist" soon not at all, I need to have this peace that I feel inside of me more often and if what has been happening and what I am doing now is giving it to me then I need to keep it up. I feel good about myself and this was actually a good question.

there is no way to stop dying. death is inevitable. everyone dies. however, the only way to stop the pain that comes from death is to accept it. to grieve when grief is needed. and mourn with those who are morning. there is time for every thing, even sadness. all we can do is to embrace the sad ness and know that after we have finished being sad we will have room in our hearts for laughter again.
the only real way to stop suicide is to give people a good reason to live. without that, death is welcome.

Stopping suicide would rob a lot of people of their jobs. All across this great nation there are companies surviving on the commerce resulting from suicide.
They protect themselves from the odors, the gasses, the pathogens, the prolific body fluids, using the best technology. They've invested heavily in the industry of suicide. They depend on it.
Too bad some folk want to do it. Jumping out of a 700 story window, hanging themselves, splattering body parts all over walls, ceilings. Offing themselves where nobody finds them until they've dripped through the mattress and covered half the floor with slime and enough stench comes under the door to alert someone.
But if they want to do that, it's still commerce.
Stop death, and there go the morticians, as well.
Death's the only thing we manufacture in the US anymore, besides hamburgers. Somebody has to work in this country.

Actually people decide to die at some point in their life. Either they stop taking care of themselves, or they start to smoke and drink a lot, or close themselves off from other people. Knowing that the human heart's automatic function is to love, people who want to die decide to be cynical and cold. They don't forgive people who have hurted them. They hate other people and even themselves. There are also self-defeating habits and thoughts on them that they entertain daily (thoughts like "I want to die", "I'll kill myself", etc. etc). (Neurologists wonder at the great power of the human brain and how we could will anything we want by saying them out loud repeatedly.) In doing so, they contract cancer or other sorts of unheard of illnesses. It's alright for them to decide to die. That is their choice. And for that, you cannot stop anyone who has decided to die, although you may try to influence their decision. But you can always only try...
So the way to stop dying is to what? Common sense...

You cannot stop death. It is a part of life itself. Suicide is a decision to take one's life and end it suddenly. Personally, no one needs to do this. They have no idea that by committing suicide they remove the options of better days and a better opportunity to come forward.

stopping suicide is more about helping the person considering it, often peoples depression will lift when they receive help for whats bothering them, or sometimes its as simple as a new day brings them a new perspective
ending of this life, to me, is passing on, not dying, you move on to something else, but there is no need to hurry it
yes, suicide does leave pain behind, for the loved ones, but i feel it also sends pain on, with the one who did it
