There is a war going on there between Sunnis and Shias, and it is a direct result of our attacking Iraq and destabilizing the country, so now we have different factions fighting for power. it has also been an occupation though..Remember Mission Accomplished. everything since Sadamm was overthrown has been a US occupation of Iraq.

Since Iraq did not declare war on US, so it is an invasion. And congress not taking control from this schmuck, for not having enough votes.

Iraq is itself engaged in what is effectively a civil war.
The US is not engaged in any war, since we have no direct opponent. We are (both in legal terms and using common sense definitions) engaged in an occupation, pursuant to an authorization for the use of military force, and in support of the current govt of Iraq.
Congress never declared war, so as a matter of law it is completely incorrect to say it is a war. Webb is correct in calling it an occupation. Saying it is "botched" is opinion.

Well republicans understand that the terrorist will come here and attack us unless we win.
Dems see a way of scoring political points and if we lose they can win elections. They are not really trying to pull the troops out. I don't think even Reid and Pelosi are that dumb.
