Install the drain stopper. Pour one cup of bleach into the sink. SLOWLY run cold water into the sink (to avoid splashing) and let it fill and go out the sink overflow. This will clean and sanitize the "inside" of the sink where the overflow water can sometimes cause mold and smells. It will also clean the drainpipe as it goes through it. Let the water run until there is no more bleach smell.

Is it the water that smells or the drain? Is it just in that one faucet?

If it is the water, you may need to install a filtration system.

If it is the drain that smells, you have a few options. Replace the p-trap and drain. Do this before you put any corrosive material (liquid plumber) down the drain, it could burn your hands. If that doesn't cure it, pour a mixture of bleach and water (one part bleach to 10 parts water) down it. Wait 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly with hot water. Repeat a couple of times if necessary.

Good luck.

i would just let the water run for a while. At school the sinks are like that too in the lab, if you let the water run usually the smell will go away.

I use a cup or two a week of sudsy ammonia down both my sink and shower drains every week, leave awhile, then flush with hot water...really helps!

you may also want to pour a box of arm & hammer baking soda down the drain one you get it cleaned out and then again every 4 - 6 months as needed. That will help take away the odor!
