Unless you have a Bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate, forget the high school stint.

Although there is a Cisco cert that commands 6 figures -- the CCIE -- an entry level cert such as a CCNA won't get you any near that. Mid 20s to low 30s depending upon the part of the country would be very do-able, though. (The A+ and Net+ don't add much to the Cisco cert, by the way. That's your ace in the hole.)

I've got a CCNA and several Microsoft, HP & Dell certs, along with about 17 years experience in an enterprise environment and am doing well over $70k in a small Midwest town. I could probably double that in a major city but the cost of living would eat deeply into it as would taxes. Certs are handy getting started but experience is where the big money comes in to play.

Not only can you get a good job in IT, you can teach High School. Pass a background check...drug tests..and agree to take 18 hrs of coursework within a few years...and you are in. Check with you local school district to start, but this is a nationwide program. Starting pay depends on the location.

In Tennessee, IT starts at roughly $15-25/hr. Teaching low 30s.

Cisco..if you have that, can start at 6 figures anywhere. Why? It is extremely difficult to accomplish.

You DO NOT need a BS to teach Career and Technical courses in High School. Industry certification with job experience.

Networking is an recommendations-blowing container while you're technically orientated. Cisco is the "800 pound gorilla" in networks. they are the critical producer of networking hardware inclusive of routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, etc. and the utility that runs on them. in case you have an interest, look into certification education for the Cisco CCNA, or Cisco qualified community affiliate. that's the 1st point of Cisco certifications and covers the basics that anybody attracted to networking desires to appreciate. There are stronger certifications attainable besides such because of the fact the CCNP or Cisco qualified community expert and the "Holy Grail" of networking, the CCIE or Cisco qualified Internetworking expert. (think of of the CCIE as a PhD equivalent. very very nearly all CCIEs earn 6 parent salaries.) previous that, it relies upon on what you prefer to concentrate on. Microsoft is a important participant interior the community working gadget section, as is Linux and a superb kind of flavors of Unix. A Cisco CCNA and someone-friendly education in Microsoft lively itemizing will practice you for a useful occupation in computer networking.

Yours skills, no degree, and a good work ethic? Sure there is nothing holding you back. I like the teaching answer, and if that does not appeal to you, IT might. Starting job entry would be technical support with a starting pay of around 30K, depending on your location and the call center.
