I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "funky", but a 600 cfm carb is a good size for a stock or mildly built 350. As you do more performance upgrades that require more air and fuel, then you can upgrade to a larger carb...

600cfm carb will be fine in to the 11 second range. With rpm up to about 6000 on a 350 cubic inch engine. Edlebrock carbs need a few slight modifications fuel pressure needs to be regulation between 5-5.5 psi. Any more and the needles will unseet and flood out. The acceloration pump linkage needs to be moved from middle hole to top hole. Meter and rod step up spring needs to be changed to the pink 7" hg spring in most cases also depending on combination you may need a slight meter and rod and/or jet change to dial carb into your combination.

that's a good carburetor for a 350 to have on it i have one of them also and it does really good,i have an electric pump though and had to reduce the pressure down to about 51/2 pounds to get it to run right, anything over that and it wants to flood it,but it does real good, mine is built just a little but it comes alive at about 40 mph,and does really good off the line also, mine is also manual kick down, but it should run it fairly well,600 cfm is a lot of gas,but it should do pretty good on it,good luck with it.,,PS I'm running right around 350 horse power and mine does good with that much gas.

Alto or baritone? Funky like smoke the tires? yes it will but please build the motor around all good parts don't just slap a carburator on it and think the pistons and bearings will hold up with minium oil pressure. New small block motors in the box with headers and good cam and carb choice can be built to order will really bring the funk when needed. How about 360+,hp

if the engine itself is in good condition, and is mildly built, the 600cfm edebrock is a fine carb for that engine. it is not however a magic bullet. dont bolt on the carb expecting to beat john force's company car. good engine performance requires a systems approach to making good power.

Do NOT buy that rotten, cheap carburator! Choose another brand, just not that one. 600cfm is ok. 650cfm if you have a large camshaft installed (270 advertised duration cam or bigger).

The infamous, so-called "edelbrock" carburator is really a bad imitation of an old Carter carburator design......only less tunable. It will always run too rich, and flood your spark plugs out.......and you will lose the race as well as drivability.
But hey, if you are stuck on shiny, bright objects......that is your weakness, and it will cost you.....dearly. People have thrown cars away erroneously because of this carburetor, thinking that the problem is the whole engine.
