Why are republicans even bothering running in 2008? What will they run on? their scandals?

Helping the poor = none
VA Benefits = CUT by republican leaders and bush
Military Raises = Are you kidding? a slap in the face to our brave soldiers

Arming our troops = just ask them. republicans refuse to provide them with armor

Tax cuts = for rich only

Medical care = They want it to remain FOR PROFIT.
Minimum wage = Wasnt raised untill republicans lost the house and senate and our Democratic Leaders passed a raise for the poor. republicans wanted to clock this bill. bush reluctantly signed it

Oil Dependence = repubicans will always defend these people and refuse to transition to alternative energy

Stem cell research which can CURE disease = NON esxistant funding for this moral and valuable research. They put politics above health and force religious beliefs on other people.


So the question is. What will they run on and why do they even bother?

there is no cheaper alternative. if there was, we'd be using it. When gas gets up to $5-$6 a gallon watch how fast America switches fuels.

Stem cell research, even on embryos is not illegal or banned. the debate is over tax money being doled out to private companies to pay for it. I thought you Dems were AGAINST corporate welfare?

If you take a look at history you will see that liberal Dems have had more than their share of scandals. Spending on assistance to the poor has remained at the same levels or in some cases been increased. It is the Democrats that stopped the comprehensive energy plan proposed in 2001 and social security reform on 2002. There is plenty of funding for Stem cell research, private funding. And the Embronic stem cells have not been proven to cure anything, unlike adult cells and extracting the cells from cords, which liberals tend to ignore.
Oh and as far as that "slap in our soldiers face" I have served under both Democrats and Republicans, the difference being in a Republican administration I didn't need food stamps to feed my family.
In a Democratic administration you are lucky to get any pay raise at all. So don't sit there and talk about something you clearly have no idea about.

Once again the truth is twisted to fit the story teller. Bush gave more to VA than Clinton ever did. Bush also gave more to schools and colleges than Clinton. The poor have become so used to the handouts of the democrats that they do not know how to work anymore. The only reason democrats keep throwing money at the poor is to give their friends that are unable to work in the public sector jobs. For each dollar that is allocated for the poor the administration of the programs takes more than half. If the democrats really wanted to do something for the poor they would create training centers and make the poor learn skills to get off the poverty rolls. As to why the Republicans are running the green party is not yet ready to take over. The people need someone to vote for and by 2008 the public will be so disgusted with the democrats the opposing parties will win big. Pelosi and Reid have put the congress at it's lowest popularity ever.. Guess they will consider that an accomplishment to use in the 2008 elections.

Because Americans would rather have a person that supports and actually wants the country to win a war. Not send them there and then say, oh we are sort of maybe sorta against the war, then completely against the war. It is nice how you believe our troops cannot win. Tax cut has helped the economy immensely. If you say tax cuts for the rich, since everyone who paid taxes got a tax cut, then they must all be rich. Unemployment at record lows. Dow at record highs. Mininum wage makes people lose jobs, it only helps unions because they automatically get a raise when the mininum wage goes up. How many cures has stem cells come up with. If it was how great the people say it is, then why aren't all the drug companies fighting like crazy to work on stem cells. I would say the Global warming hoax would be the thing that is being forced on people. They will run and they will win like the last 2 presidential elections. You cannot win a presidential election on calling the other side names, you have to have actual ideas to help the country.
