For that price, tons. A cold air intake system, platinum spark plugs, performance chip, cat back system. For another grand more you could just turbo charge it, add over 100 horses. Check out this site, great for people new to cars, explains all the parts and will list parts specifically for your vehicle. here it is- www.andysautosport.com

remember that you need to take a systems approach to engine modification for greatest efficiency. just changing a muffler will not increase power unless the stock muffler is extremely inefficient, and that isnt likely these days. depending on the car you have, and what engine is in the car, changing the entire exhaust system can add as much as 15hp. a cold air intake system can add about 5hp, and again depending on the engine, a 100hp shot of nitrous can add as much as 100hp. dont assume though that if you add a 100hp shot to a small four cylinder engine that you will indeed get an additional 100hp. it depends on the engine that the nitrous system builders used to test that system on. if they use a 350 chevy small block, and you put the system on a 1.6L honda engine, you might get more power, or less power.

Your best bet would be to join a forums page. I was on one since i was 16 and i wouldn't have known as much about cars as i do now if it weren't for those people. You'll still have to do your research, but it's a nice reference to always have. And since i dont know what kind of car u have i can't help more than these other people have. I would just tell u the same thing. Search yahoo for a forums page.

You asked quite a bit for not saying which kind of car or how much power you're looking to achieve. There is a difference between how much power you're going to get out of $1000 worth of mods for a 4 cyl Civic as compared to a V-8 Mustang.

changing your mufffler is gonna do absoloutely 0. changing the whole exhaust system is different. for under a grand you should go buy a fancy nitrous kit and run a 75 shot and see how far it goes before your engine knocks and pings itself to death and run leaner than anything. or you could go get aan intake header high flow cat and exhaust system for about a grand if you get the right stuff.

Torque is often what you experience, yet horsepower continuously makes the swifter automobile (all different issues being equivalent like weight, gearing, etc). For conventional applying, you will savor the torquier engine lots greater advantageous. maximum DOHC fours could have the snot revved out of them to make their optimum potential, and that's in simple terms demanding. in case you want the better little bit of potential (5HP is very nearly unnoticeable, take pointless stuff out of your automobile and vacuum it out), and are high quality with taking it to the redline each and all the time, then get the single with greater potential. I used to very own a golfing GTi with a a hundred and five HP 2.0L 8V (historic layout) engine. by way of leaping the sunshine slightly i might desire to get around the intersection and by way of a row of parked vehicles earlier a Honda Civic SiR with a a hundred and sixty HP a million.6 DOCH VTEC engine, by using fact my engine grow to be larger and produced greater torque (rubber in 2nd kit grow to be surprisingly straight forward). He might have beat me if the race grow to be longer, yet he could no longer launch swifter than me without relining his engine and burning his grab.
