we always hear other people stories about ghosts or whatever creatures they said that appears in the dark thats why were afraid of the dark, but i think it's only in our minds. for example if a child was raised without frightening him/her about monster creatures ghost or anything that makes us afraid, that child will grow up brave.. phsychologically i think we all just made these fears and put it on our minds that we will be afraid of that something that stucks in our minds.

People only fear what they don't understand
We all have to face the darkness when we close our eyes
So just tell them to close their eyes and then asked them what they are afraid of ?
The answer will be nothing
So then say it is the same when it gets dark at night
It is the same when I turn the lights off
They maybe having bad dreams maybe you should ask them about their dreams get a dream decoder and explain to them what dreams are and what they mean it may help them to understand : )
Children up to the age of 8 to 10 years old can see Spirits and communicate a lot with their Guides and Angel maybe that is their problem they don't understand about Spirits," Family Members they come and check up on them" Angels and Spirit Guides they come to comfort them : )
Maybe just some good communication and a lot of explanation will ease their minds
Love & Blessings

Technically we still have the fight or flee instinct that keeps animals alive. In the dark there is much more chance of an unexpected sound or touch that triggers the Adrenalin flow.

Absolute darkness causes us to produce a hormone that involves dreaming. When we have the hormone while awake, our imaginations become more vivid. Some people may produce more of this hormone than others.

Well, from what I can figure, we are mostly sight-based animals. Sure we smell, taste, hear, touch - but we tend to find our way around and stay alert for danger through our eyes. When it's dark you, essentially, have this sense removed from you. I think it's a primal thing...
