ok so when I turn on my cpu the fan starts going and it hums like it would be working normaly but nothing happens. no monitor activity, no sound from the speakers, nothing. I tryed both onboard and off board video cards but nothing happens (also onboard sound card is dead). I made sure every thing was pluged in inside and out. uhooked parts and tryed to start it up again and nothing happens still. every once and a great while I get a start up it shows my motherboard info as if its going to start up but then it fizzels out and goes back to blackness. also I bought a new processor thinking that it had burnt out but even with the new one the same exact stuff happens. I even tryed to start it up with my windows disc and still nothing. I think my mother board may have craped out but i figure before I go spending money I shoul put this out there thanks in advance.

Is there beeps? Different beep sequence mean different thinks wrong. If there is no beeps and the fan just keeps running like it is starting then ever think it could be your monitor. What kind of motherboard is it? each manufacture has their own sequence of beeps for trouble shooting. Here is a web site that has general beep codes http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml
I would look more at the AMI BIOS Beep Codes partway down.
Also you can reset the system bus by turning it on and hold the power button in front and pulling the power cord at the exact same time. Or try removing the CMOS battery for a minute. Something to try. If it was shorting out it would of been doing it before. Was it running fine before? More details.....

Make sure the RAM sticks are inserted properly. Sound won't run without a driver. Make sure your monitor is working. If you have a DV-I graph card and a old VGA monitor it may not have an analog to digital converter.

Looks like your motherboard is shorting out. Check to make sure its not touching your case.
