He/she could have acid reflux but he/she could also be lactose in tolerance so you could try him/her on soy formula to see if that helps.Good Luck!

Reflux does not always mean the baby spits up - they just regurgitate some of the food back up into the esophagus, like adults with reflux. This happens because the baby's 'cardiac sphincter' [ stomach valve from espophagus ]
is floppy, or immature. **This causes pain, burning, and leaves a very bad taste in the baby's mouth, and can even cause him to inhale some of his formula, putting him at risk of choking.
A different formula will not solve the reflux - only time will cure that. Actually, more babies are allergic to soy than to cow's milk!
*Please give him the Zantac! Many preemie babies take it, and a lot of full-termers too. It helps a lot, and I haven't seen any side effects in any of my many, many babies [ including two nieces ].

when I had my first son (12 years ago ) I would feed him and all he did was cry after he was done , it got to the point were I was crying to , the doctors wanted to put him on meds to . I changed his formula to soy milk and he stoped crying ! do not let them put your child on meds ..soy milk is allot nicer to the baby 's belly .. allot of formula's have to much iron for some babys.. I would change right away . you should see a change in the little one with a week or two . you have to give the baby time to get use to the new stuff ..good luck .

my son was prescribed zantac at a (obviously) appropriate dosage. it made a world of difference. we had tried all different formulas and nothing helped. Breast formula wasn't an option for my son when he was born. the low dose of the anti reflux helped him eat better, he gained more weight, and in general became a happier baby. he came off the meds once he started 'solid' food. (5 mnts)if it makes you comfortable, get a second opinion from a pedi-but no doctor is going to risk his medical license by prescribing something if its not fda approved, or a normal course of treatment.

your doctor wants you to WHAAAAT? giving a 4 week baby Zantac sounds insane to me! your baby has a tummy ache and its time to change his formula. My son couldn't take Similac but his had Iron in it and it was way to hard on his little tummy but,if that isn't the case with your formula then try the Soy. he's possibly lactose intolerant if he has alot of gas. Take him to a baby doctor, if he's already a baby doctor, get a different one, this one sounds insane.your baby deserves the best and your his voice so get another opinion and keep your baby away from this quack.

My first question is this: Do you burp him in the middle of the bottle? You should. Sometimes it is the gas bubble that is so painful. if you can get him to burp in the middle of the bottle then resume it again, until he is done then burp him, it may be better. Of course, he will probably cry in between the bottle too. Try anything, but don't be one of these people that try a different formula for a day or two then change again. It is confusing for the baby and not good for their system. Good luck. This will pass.

Our daughter did it for months !!! Our Dr. kept saying she had colic and would grow out of it. After 6 months of her crying and us going crazy we went to a differnet Dr. and was given Zantac and it stopped the next day. She had heartburn/indigestion but didn't have any spitting up-just crying all the time

My son went through the same thing and it was because he was allergic to the formula..By 'allergic' I mean it hurt his tummy. We ended up on Similac Alimentum ( I think that is how it is spelled)..it is expensive and smells horrible..however, it stopped his belly ache..You may just need to try different formulas. It is very frustrating! Good luck!

My nephew could only drink with Dr. Brown bottles. They are kind of on the expensive side, but it will definitely save your sanity. Dr. Brown bottles have a special designed straw-like thing to reduce the gas that the baby drinks, creating less bubbles the baby swallows.

Please, whatever you do, now and as your child grows up, don't let those doctors give your child any meds like that.
Maybe your baby is allergic to the formula you feed him. Maybe he's lactose intolerant. It could be all sorts of things. Docs like to treat the problem but not find out the reason. That's up to you. Swich formulas and try different things. Go to your local health food store and talk to them. They are very knowledgeable in natural cures. You should try anything and not give your baby meds.
