She may have had that sax change so many people are getting these days. I saw this happen on one of the Soprano's episodes. One of the guys was French horning with another man's wife and got a tromboner. He thought she was a tener, but he was really off base. She was only a four. She was moody as heck. She was always blowing hot and cold. Maybe it was because of her diet. She was reed thin. You must feel pretty crappy having your wife change into a bass. You must feel like you have hit rockfish bottom. I once knew a woman with a rockfish bottom who returned home with a great big red snapper. But, I digress. This may be a sour note for you, but at least with a tuba ligation she will be not so brassy and will know how to compose herself. Maybe she will be able to orchestrate her thoughts and actions now with a deeper understanding. Look at it this way, the shrill may be gone, but you can still have fun to beat the band. Keep your cleft chin up. This will only alter your arrangements for a little while as you learn to scale things down. Thank you for letting me voice my opinions. I know how deeply this affects you. She may not be able to conceive of what is happening, but she will still have sax appeal. Oboe, will she ever.

She had her Tuba Ligated?
Just kidding,
no, a tubal wouldn't change her voice range and that is a real change, it may be hormonal, but I think she should see a ear nose and throat doctor, there may be something going on unrelated to the tubal.

I can't conceive of a better response than Mr. Dicken's Opus. Just be loving, Colonel, and don't make a bassoon of yourself.
