Because they advance the interests of the few at the expense of the many.

Despite the ruthless devotion of our aristocratic leaders to unrestrained capitalism, the perpetuation of a majority of the wealth remaining in the hands of the few (the wealthiest 20% of Americans possess 83% of our nation's vast wealth), and the reduction of the civil liberties of "commoners", the brilliant Constitution drafted by our forefathers has maintained a semblance of a liberal democracy in the United States. The fact that I am writing this essay for publication is a testament to that fact. However, before celebrating too hard, remember that throughout American history there has been an ebb and flow of social justice, and the tide is clearly ebbing. Need evidence? Consider the Patriot Act, the war in Iraq, the declaration of a perpetual state of war on terror (increasing the authority of the federal government), higher regressive taxes, lower progressive taxes, a growing concentration of political power in the hands of legalistic Christians (the Religious Right), legislated discrimination against gays, an erosion of affirmative action, and a significant decline in funding for social safety net programs (i.e. Medicaid) coupled with increases in defense spending. As Americans, we still enjoy many of the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, but we enjoy them in spite of the true nature and intent of our leaders. We are taught and programmed to believe that we enjoy these freedoms because of the imperialistic endeavors of our elite leaders (like the "War to End All Wars"), which "keep the world safe for democracy". The reality is that Americans remain free because of the ongoing vigilance of many amongst us, and to some extent because allowing a degree of freedom amongst their own subjects enables the American ruling class to engage in aggression against other nations under the pretext of "spreading freedom and democracy".

I think that is a very impartial how do you judge "bad" presidents some people might consider the great presidents just because your OPINION is that republicans have made bad presidents does not mean they have you have to look at the good things they have done to you may not even realize half of the great things they have done make sure you know all the facts before you start busting on someone who has made it some where you will never stand a chance of even fathoming. They are good just for having made it there because they bluffed you and everyone else into believing they were what was best for this country weather they were Republicans or Democrats honestly I do not believe either of the so called "front runners" are deserving of office Hillary and Obama are media mongers using every advantage they can get to destroy other candidates. Neither of them deserve to be in office but if they for some god awful reason make it to office I will fell the same way about them as I do every other U.S. President they may not have been deserving but they are there and the decisions they have to make on a daily basis literally effect the entire planet.

-Nixon opening China a failure?
-Reagan helping to win the cold war & get the US economy back on track?
-Bush 1 signing NAFTA and bringing globalization/free trade to the US making the US even richer than it already was?
-Bush 2: A total 100% disaster.

All Presidents Dem or GOP make mistakes. It's an inevitable part of the job. However, you can find the same mistakes with Dem Presidents as Republican Presidents it's just that the mainstream media loves to target the GOP.

That's your proof? Hoover, that's your proof? You liberals really need to use your minds. What about Teddy Roosevelt? He was great! And what happened at the end of his term? He ran again, he offered EVERYTHING! Women's suffrage, equal rights, blacks can vote and have citizenship, everything! But no one went for him. There were only 2 great democrats in history: FDR, and JFK. Anyone else was average, or a whiny baby, oh wait that's only obama! You know what strikes me odd? We Republicans know best, and liberals go against all the good things, yet you all vote for them? Typical liberals manipulating everyone, always up to dirty tricks and pinning the blame on every else, just like the nazis to the jews during the night of the broken glass. Or should we go to clinton? Remember? He lied on oath to the court? "I swear on the BIBLE I did not have sex with that woman!". He was a democrat. However, liberals will win again. They manipulate and win. Of course everyone, thumbs me down, after all I only speak the truth. Then you'll post "facts" and try to prove me wrong, after all you only embrace lies. Go ahead you typical liberals.

How about Truman, LBJ, Carter and Clinton. They have done more to damage this country than all the Republican presidents combined. Look at history and learn the fact that it was Truman that stopped MacArthur from taking on China and Russia before they had nukes. It was LBJ that pussy footed around while the troops in Nam gave up their lives. Carter followed that up with the embarrassment of the Iranian hostage mess and then along comes Billy Boy Clinton who thought firing a few missiles at Iraq could fix the problems there. Oh Yea lets not forget His letting OBL go free when He had the chance to kill him. Great leadership chasing interns around the white house while ignoring the world.

Well, Carter and Kennedy don't exactly bring to mind any prizes with respects to foreign policy.

By the way, I'd say two of the best EVER were Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, both Republicans.

FDR and Wilson were democrats and probably had the most detrimental effects on the country as President.

BTW, I'm neither Republican, nor Democrat.

I doubt that Nixon and Reagan should be considered the worst in history. Considering what we are coping with today, those two should be bronzed.

Primarily because they like going to war. They have the mentality that war helps the economy.
No matter, if it kills people, too! People seem to be easily discarded by the Republican Presidents...
Now, 'anything for the good ol' 'buck.' Speaking of buck - it still stops at the p.Resident - like it or not!

Because they are republicans!
I think it speaks for itself.

But then again it wasnt always bad to be republic, its really the neo-cons who r the problem.
And, yes, while Teddy Roosevelt was a rep. he certainly isnt what "conservative" means today. He loved the eco-system, and you neo-cons shun people like that now dont you. you hate caring for the environment (that you ruined) because you wont admit that your at fault and certainly wont change your lifestyle!!! (Selfish)! so you really cant use Teddy as an example for your side..... if he were alive today, he would be as liberal as they come!
