Actually, this question has a tremendous amount of meaning. It is somewhat of an order or requirement to be a better person. If you know yourself, then you will know how to act in many different situations. Knowing thyself is very important when being a leader or manager. You have certain ethical rules for yourself, right? Keep setting those rules and live by them. But also consider others and listen to their ethical rules and values. By communicating, listening and learning, you may want to modify yourself in being the person you've always wanted to be. Continue obtaining life experience and know thyself better and better each day.

We all have strengths and weaknesses. We are all kind of like jigsaw pieces in an unfinished jigsaw puzzle, and knowing thyself is the first step toward finding the place where we can find the perfect fit.

A pointless endeavour. I have changed so much over the years, that knowing myself is to know that I change so frequently that trying to do this is quite pointless.
Each decade of our lives brings about changes in behaviour, attitude, values, etc.
The line was a clever inscription by a popularized writer. Don't fall for it.

I like Guru's anwser, But I'd like to add, that even though we are or some of us are constantly changing, in order for us not to be tempted to judge others, we must ask ourselves, what would I do if. I don't know it sounded better in my head. Tks
