Your body is going to kick in when it's ready. A lot of the hard work is already done. 4cm and 60% effacement is an excellant beginning!
If you do end up being induced, I doubt you will need much of a kick.
Pitocin is the drug most likely to be used on you. You're only given what you need to aquire an adequate pattern. Too much can stimulate too many contractions.
What is hard with inducing is that most women are beginning at hardly any change in cervix. The pit is given and those early contractions can be rough if you're not ready.
Yours should be easy, if you haven't already gone into labor. You've got that hard early stuff out of the way.
Good luck!!

I had my first baby at 42 weeks and then at 41 1/2 weeks with my second, I decided to try a few things to kickstart my labor. I had already had my membranes stripped, was only at 1 cm dilated and not having any contractions. I had heard of drinking castor oil or having sex...I was desperate for the baby to be out so I did both lol!I drank about an oz of castor oil mixed with coke. And my husband and I had sex right afterwards (around 10 pm) At about 11, I got my first contraction and they came every 2 minutes. They just started that way. I waited for about an hour or so before waking up my husband (he's in the Army and has to get up at 5am every morning so I didn't want to wake him up for yet another false alarm) By midnight (I HAD WAITED TOO LONG LOL) I woke him up...I had already packed the hospital bags for myself, him, my daughter, and the new baby while in the first stage of labor. We drove to the hospital and they first checked me at 1:00am. I was only dilated to a 1 even though I had been having hard contractions for about 2 hours. They told me to go walking and I got as far as down the hall before I could barely stand. By the time I was checked again, less than 10 minutes later I was already at 4cm so they admitted me. They got my iv running and by the time they could get an anesthesiologist to my room for an epidural but son was born. My total labor was about 2 1/2 hours. Obviously the castor oil and/or sex sped it up a lot, which isn't always a good thing. (My son was in the nursery for the first few hours because he was under stress from such a fast labor) I would try one or the other, and if nothing helps, then both. I know it doesn't work for everyone...it only works if your baby is ready to come out but just needs a little help! Good luck

I have always heard that castor oil works great. Of course, it causes diarrhea which is probably why you go into labor. The labor is harder if it is induced. Mine stalled with the birth of my second child. They gave me a shot to get it going and boy did that get it kicked into gear. I had an epidural and still felt the contractions. Good luck with the delivery. Congrats on the birth of you child.

I drank castoroil and it worked with both of my kids. Makes you poop A LOT, so stay near the potty. The contractions of your intestines kind of get you uterine contractions going... gross I know! Not sure if it is okay when you are overdue. I think I remeber hearing something about meconium... anyway if you try it mix it with reaaly sweet koolaid or juice cause it tastes vile...

If you're still having contractions, a HOT shower will help.
Hot water aimed at your chest and lower back will intensify the contractions.

i was induced but all they did was break my water no drugs needed.
if you are having contractions then all they should have to do is go ahead and break it instead of stripping it.
being induced can still be natural.
like i said i was induced and didn't have anydrugs for pain.
hang in there and congrats

A baby will only be born when it wants to be born. Induction is painful so take the drugs.

During my last pregnancy, my doctor told me to have lots of sex. When he ejaculates it is supposed to help the cervix dilate.
