the two lights on the enclosure seems to work fine, i get the green light. i try pluging in usb flash drives, game controllers and everything works fine. the desktop does not detect the external drive at all. i can format, access data. The enclosure is a 2.5" Eagle Bit for a IDE drive. only software that came was some backup. But even when installing that software no recognition of device.

I did the same thing recently without any problems. Only thing I can think of in your situation is to make sure your desktop's USB is capable of supporting USB 2.0 which is probably what the drive enclosure's USB version is (since that's new).

Another thing is to make sure the hard drive you've put into the enclosure has its jumpers set to slave. If its set to master and the desktop also has its jumpers (correctly) set to master, then you definitely won't be able to see the enclosed drive when you plug it in.

You probably need to install the drivers that are supposed to have come with the enclosure. If you've connected everything right, it should be detected without problems. Are all the lights coming on? It's really difficult to know what the problem is with the little information you gave.

It doesn't sound like you want to boot with it, so the bios not supporting boot is not a problem. Is there anything else you can share with us?

If, as you stated, this is did not paintings on 3 distinctive desktops, then maximum probably it particularly is a hardware situation, not an argument which comprise your drivers. This many easily be solid information, in a feeling, via fact the blunders would not point out a force failure so your information is perhaps ok; quite it shows a failure of the force enclosure or its USB interface. you're in a position to get right of entry to it only nice in case you purchase a distinctive exterior force enclosure and flow the demanding force from the SUMO enclosure to the hot one. Are you the unique customer of the article? if so, then you definately could additionally anticipate some help from the producer, whether this is only in sending a alternative enclosure.
