"You are a deeply disturbed person...Because if you start insisting the 'government' should end this labeling crisis, one day an anal retentive PC Nazi will show up at your door, and tell you what you are allowed to say and think. "

Isn't this what the government and psychiatry are already doing? This is not about freedom of speech, freedom of speech is not court ordered or psychiatrically bound, it is about freedom of being human beings. If I labeled you as anything, such as a liar and propagandizer, and you didn't like it you would ask me to stop, avoid it, or tell me that I was lying about you, perhaps even slur back at me, and you would ask me why didn't I just stop trying to be a bully? Especially if it was what made you an outcast in your community or society, now isn't that right? And the label is the stigma to think any otherwise makes you a fool.

You can't stop people from labeling you. It is completely impossible. However, the trick is to not label yourself. If you label yourself, you will limit yourself.

If you're worried about how other people label you, then you're worrying too much about someone else's opinion. Not a good way to live.

You are a deeply disturbed person.

Yep, that's a label. I've had a bunch put on me and there's not much I can do about it.

But I don't really want too.

And here's why:

A label is just a word or a name.

It doesn't matter if someone labels you badly, because who cares if a moron thinks you’re a moron?

But if someone labels you well, you can learn something about yourself you might not have known.

In the end it comes down to how much you love freedom.

Because if you start insisting the 'government' should end this labeling crisis, one day an anal retentive PC Nazi will show up at your door, and tell you what you are allowed to say and think.

Labels? I assume you mean the social kind, not actual labels, though your question can go either way.

I like labels. You just have to take them for what they're worth, and nothing more. They're just ways of describing people with a similar style/interest/ethos... no more than that. It's quite possible to still be an individual while still being under one or multiple labels.

People label themselves... no one's 100% original... you are what you know, or at least what you want to know.

Yeah, everyone's an individual. But even the most individualistic person has things in common with others. Our brains make associations, compare and contrast things... and thus, labels are born, much to the aid of all! Labels are just like every other aspect of language... an apple is an apple whether it's red or green, a hipster is a hipster whether they have flat-ironed hair or a Devendra-esque beard.

It's wonderful!

Labels are unavoidable. (It is a function of language.) "Nice" and "intelligent" are labels too. What we tend to do is to avoid what can be considered negative labels. This too is subjective.

Personally, what anyone thinks about me is their issue not mine. I refuse to let someone else's judgment ruin my day. Label me, don't label me, I could care less.

I prefer to limit the impact of other's negativity and judgment in my life.

Everybody has a peer group, everybody belongs to something. Who are them? People who aren't in your social circle. I have noticed the attitude of 'us' changes as uses become thems.

If you look like your picture, you have labelled yourself.

"'If only, if only' the woodpecker sighs....."

I wish we could stop the labels, but there will always be at least one judge out there. =/
