Got tear-gassed, beaten up and dragged around by my hair by several dozen of Chicago's finest during the 1968 Democratic Convention (police) Riot.

The best protest I ever did, was when I was employed by a large law firm in San Jose; I was 27 and my son was 5 years old; I needed the job, and worked for the senior partner. He asked me to do something that I considered unethical and I refused to do it. He told me that I was his employee and would do what I was told.

I picked up my purse, took the photo of my son off my desk and told him; no, i won't But I will tell yo goodbye. I walked out and never looked back.

He tried to withhold my paycheck for that day's work, but I threatened to take him to court and he backed down. What a jerk. But I felt really good about it, and was back at work at a better job within a week.

A gay rights protest. Myself and hundreds of others from city staged a protest and blocked one of the major intersections in the city for hours. (Technically a sit in as we blocked all roadways by sitting down and lying down.)

Gay, straight, male, female, young, old, hundreds and then more joined in to protest legislation by the local goverment.

In high school, we staged a walk out of 2000 students for unfair treatment of male students and violations of privacy. Students did not return with threats of expulsions. We did return to classes when administration agreed to meet with students.

I called the cops on my husband who beat me over and over again, then rape, then blaa blaa blaa. That was my best protest. You can bet your sweet *** I'll never do that again.
