I think it was , Brian Bosworth of OU. Complete "steroid driven" tackling machine in the mid 80's.

First off Bosworth was great, and he wasn't punked out in the NFL, he was injured. Big difference. Same thing with Katzenmoyer and a bunch of others. Second off, you need to specify inside or outside linebacker, in some systems they are completely different positions. LT was a phenon, as was Speilman for his size, but there isn't any doubt who the best of all time was. I can't believe the guy with Illini in his name didn't get it. They don't call it the BUTKUS award for nothing.

ok first.. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was a Defensive End and only got on the field when Sapp needed some Gatorade.. now.. the greatest "College" LB.. even tho he got punked out in the pro's.. Brian Bosworth.. when he played at Oklahoma.. you didn't dare run on him.. he shut down the entire middle of the field and crushed Nebraska in the Orange bowl.. broke dudes leg if I'm not mistaken.. but then he met Bo in the Pro's and Bo knows how to step on you on the way to the endzone on national tv

Assuming you mean currently, it's almost definitely Rolando McClain from Alabama, though Brandon Spikes from Florida is a stud too.

I think that when ray lewis was at miami, he was one of the best if not the best linebacker in college.
