Pixie dust is the trail of sparkling material that often follows mythical creatures such as pixies and fairies in general when they are visually represented. Sometimes, this trail is interpreted as being a tangible substance, often imbued with magic powers.

You *purchased* it??? I hope it wasn't too much. Both the psychic AND the fairy dust are fake. What that person calls fairy dust could be just about anything.
I do remember a story about an old man in central America somewhere who found a small metal container in an abandoned US Army building. It contained a pretty blue powder that twinkled like phosphorous. He gave some of it to kids in his tiny village. Now that sounds like fairy dust.
But it wasn't. It was an intensely radio-active isotope of Cesium which was used in x-ray machines, left there by mistake. All of the children died within a few days or weeks. Many of their parents died. The old man didn't. I believe the entire site has been cleared by the US, fenced off over something like 50 square miles, and barred to any human entry for the next 100 years.
(Some of my details may be incorrect--except for the part about psychics and fairy dust being fake.)

There are nay sayers every where you look any more. I say that even if it has a sticker that reads made in Taiwan it is only as real as your faith makes it. Everyone has some kind of symbolism in their life. Christians have crosses, Wiccans have Pentacles, Alchemists have science, and Jews have the Star of David. They are not limited to the symbols listed. In fact some of the listed faiths may not find symbolism in them either.
What I say to you is that your fairy dust is what you make it. If you believe in it with your very being then it is no less real than any other symbol in the universe! Do not ever let others take from you believe, or tell you what you feel!
Blessed Be!

That brought back a memory....so I'm going to segue a bit.
In the 70s I was involved with a lot of musicals. Sometimes things got really screwed up and I'd slump. One time I was sitting on the apron of the stage, head hanging, and frustrated about a scene change that I couldn't get to "fly"--the term I still use.
All of a sudden I was inundated in dust. Coughing, I looked up and around me were several chorus boys and the costume designer. The CD was the spokesman and he said, "We thought our Peter Pan needed some Fairy dust." and they all went off into a huge giggle. I couldn't help but to laugh also......and the scene change flew on the next try.

Fairy Dust is micro-cut glitter. You can buy it at Michael's in a spectrum of colours for $3.49 for a 1 ounce jar (that's a jar about 4 inches high by 1 inch diameter - and I bet a LOT cheaper than you paid for half a pinch in a cocaine bottle on a chain. And if you use the 40% off coupon that comes with the Michael's flyer in the newspaper every Sunday, it'll only cost you $2.09

I'm afraid it's just plain glitter. Considering there's no such thing as fairy's, there's no such thing as dust from said fairy's.
