I disagree with the universal health care but I think I understand why they support it. They believe that everyone deserves health benefits even if tax dollars must insure everyone has it. You are correct in that this is a socialist view and we are not a socialist country (yet). I don't mind paying to help a kid without parents or one taken from his parents because they were unfit. I think it is the right thing to do, but I do have a problem taking from my family to pay for a lazy, worthless person. I also have a problem paying for health care of people who don't have it because they violate the law whether it is a murder in prison, an illegal alien, or a welfare bum who just doesn't want to work. This generation is often refered to as the generation of entitlement and rightfully so, they are taught that everyone is just as valuable or worthy as the next but that is just PC BS. A murder is not worthy to live the same life as a hard working, law abiding citizen. People need to be responsible and take accountability for their actions or lack there of.

I was born into a poor family but my dad was rich in the fact that he believed in self reliance and a hard days work. He passed that to his kids and most of us grew up to live a better than average, although not rich, life. People who think the well off should have to pay a bigger share need to ask the well off how they got to where they are. I said I am not rich but after getting out of trouble with the law and breaking an addiction problem I served 10 years in the military. I got out of the military and worked an average of 1500 hours a year overtime and I now go to college at the age of 41. I don't feel sorry for you if you fail because you are lazy. I don't feel sorry for you if you have a problem with booze or drugs unless you want to do something about the problem. It is not my job to pay for others failures I already had to pay for mine.

Depends on the type of socialism you are after.

Libertarian socialists seek to dismantle the state and have everything owned by the people. I'm all for libertarian socialism!

Think they want our health care run by government because right now our current health care providers are more interested in making money rather then helping people. That doesn't make to much sense when you are suppose to be in the business of helping people. Not turning them away to die so you can make 15 billion this quarter instead of 14.5 billion... Sense you seem to be a Neo-Con human life means very little to you though....

It's even worse than the system we have now.

Health care is expensive now because people usually have insurance to pay their medical expenses, so they simply go get the treatments they want or need without worrying about how much it's going to cost their insurer.

Currently health car providers must compete with one another, and they do what they can to control costs.

Under a government monopoly health care system, all the earmarks of a monopoly will be visited upon that system. Prices will go up, quality will go down and the wait for services be much much longer.

The solution to the problem is medical savings accounts. When individuals are using their own money for medical costs, they will shop quality and cost. Competition will enhance quality, drive down costs and waiting times will be streamlined.

And don't tell me it's never been tested.

It's been tested and it works.

It is true. Hilary Clinton and all of her like-minded supporters think that the government can be the single health care providers for all American and the illegals. Every one get every thing. What a deal, huh?

Because i don't want to pay $300 a month for something I have never used. I would rather give that money to government and help pay bills for poor people who cant afford to pay that amount. Yes I will pay higher taxes happily if it is for common good. I would rather pay for health care than to finance the war in Iraq.

They think that it would fairer. They don't realize that they would get the same consideration as you get from DMV (try that one). You want that for your health care? Somewhat better if govt oversees a number of varying level plans, maybe on same idea as federal plans.
