Everyone says the pac-10 is weak, they say we're overrated. Granted USC has dominated the conference for a while, but they also have been domintaing the rest of the country. I agree it sould have been Auburn back when they went 13-0. But maybe it was just USC and Oklahoma had so much hype cause they had never played. And a couple years before that USC killed Auburn at there own house. The rest of the Pac-10 is always up and down. But they compete and win at least 50% of the time with some of the best teams in the country. Check the bowl records last year, pretty sure Pac-10 finished near,if not at the top. SEC is a great conference, but we only hear about half of your enormous conference on a constant basis. When your playing in the south, the SEC has a huge advantage cause of the loud stadiums. But take them out of the south, not so much. So, please, don't hate on the Pac-10, the winning conference in the history of college sports!

The Pac 10 is a good conference. Yea besides USC there arent many great teams. I am an LSU and I remember a few years ago when Oregon St. beat them and LSU was the favorite. The arent many pushovers in the Pac 10. If any college would be called overrated it is the Big 10. Like last year when everyone thought Michigan and Ohio State were the best teams. When the bowl games came they got embrassed. The Pac 10, I think, is the second best conference behind the SEC.

Take the SEC out of the south and your damn Pac-10 would have a new top dog, that's what would happen, honey.
I will give in to the argument that the Pac-10 is second best out of the conferences. The Big-12 is down. The Big-10 is also a joke right now. The Big East is up and coming, but the absolute top conference is the SEC.
I think a big problem with awareness of the Pac-10 is the fact that it's on the west coast. Those games happen later at night, if they are even on TV at all. The majority of the east coast isn't likely to still be watching when the Pac-10 teams take the field. I know this happens to me during basketball season, when I do try to catch some Pac-10 ball. But too often the games start at 10, or even midnight sometimes, out here in the east.

Well all the teams in the Pac-10 besides USC have not been to a BCS game in at least 5 years. And about half of the teams are not bowl eligeble. Granted the confrence has been good in the past, but the past is always diffrent from the present. And USC only competes well against "national"opponents in bowl games because most are from the Big 10. The Pac-10 has a 3 week longer schedule then the Big 10, which i mean, they finish all their games 3 weeks after the Big-10. Those 3 weeks are just wasted time for the Big 10 to get away from their peak physical performance. But the Pac-10 is steadily getting better.

Take Usc out of the picture. Now name how many other Pac-10 teams are in the top-25 polls. Now count how may SEC teams are in the top-25 polls. In the SEC every conference opponent isn't a push over. Every season there are at least 5 teams from the SEC that are ranked high in the polls. There are hardly any "EASY" games. The Pac-10 may face only one team in their conference that may be a tough game. I don't "Hate" on the Pac-10, but give the SEC a little more respect. Let USC play Georgia,Florida, Tennessee,Auburn,Arkansas,Alabama, LSU, every year and see how they do.

ive bein saying that for years!! i dont take anything away from the SEC, its a great conference...but the PAC-10 does deserve more credit...i think a big part of it is the fact that the PAC10 doesnt get the same national exposure as the SEC, Big 10, etc ect does...pac-10 conference games are all played pacific time...3 hours later for those in the east/south...and since they dont know much about the teams, why would they stay up till 10 to watch them play after a long day of boozing watching SEC games??!!
deacon...i hear ya man, i know who won all of those games. but i dont think its because the SEC is so popular...im just an insane die hard college football fan
stan...USC,UCLA and CAL will all be in everyones top 25 polls this year...most recently Terry Bowden (an SEC guy) has all three in his top 16 poll...

and you never about any school in the Pac-10 other than USC and the team they are playing THIS week who won the Arizona/Arizona St game last year? .. who won Oregon vs Arizona?.. we outside the Pac-10 don't know.. and we won't know because those games don't matter in the big picture.. but I bet you know who won the LSU vs Auburn game.. or the Tennessee/Florida game.. or the Auburn/Alabama game.. those games have an effect on the entire nation and most of the top 10.. plus folks outside the Pac-10 are tired of having USC rammed down their throat by the media.. same goes of OSU really and Oklahoma also.. just cuz the media thinks some team is amazing.. doesn't make it true.. and that doesn't exclude the SEC.. Florida and LSU are all hype this year.. LSU will struggle because of a new Offensive Cooridnator and a new QB.. and Florida's entire Defense graduated along with their starting QB.. this year in the SEC.. the championship will be Auburn and Georgia.. unless a ball bounces funny and Spurrier gets the Gamecocks there.. so yea I know the media does it with the SEC too.

I think a ton of the tradition is from way back in the day of the Pac-8. I just don't see a commitment to football by every university, though the top 3-4 teams every year are legit top thirty teams, with the conference champ solidly in the top five to ten. But top to bottom....not a strong football conference.

It's just that everyone says the Pac-10 consists "of one great team with a bunch of good or average ones".
And it doesn't help that they don't do well in bowl games as a conference

Most people hate on the Pac-10 simply because they rarely get to watch us play. Being on the West Coast is a disadvantage because both sports writers and fans miss out on a majority of the games that are later in the afternoon and evenings. In addition, west coast teams often have a much shorter collegiate history which contributes to a smaller, less enthusiastic fan base. Screw 'em - we all know who's #1! :)
