when yopu say clown fish i assume you mean saltwater like nemo. if so they will tend to be mid water to bottom swimmer and not very active in comparison to other fish like dwarf angels or wrasses that will be all over the place. Once the clown get used to the tank and settles in it will tend to host something such as a anenome. Mine is wierd, it was hosting the filter return feed but now it seems to like the new thermometer i just put in the tank. If you are speaking of a clownfish in saltwater than its normal for it to hide or stay in one area of the tank that it will claim as its territory. If you are talking about a clown loach than im not to sure cause i dont have much expierence with them but i will still assume it is just getting use to the new tank.

Do you mean clown fish or clown loach?

If you mean clown fish, he's just getting used to his new habitat. He'll be coming up to eat in a couple of days.

If you mean clown loach, then they are meant to be bottom dwellers.

it took my clowns a bout a week to get used to my tank and eat normally. one actually jumped out and they wouldnt eat right again for about 3 days, but they are fine now.

he probably just needs some time to get used to a new home.

its only because u just added him, you can imagine that he is stressed out, so give him time and he will become free swimming.

But do you have cover for him, like an annomie(cant spell)
