It's scary and I live there. The officials sya its not terrorist related but there are streets completely shut down and there are no trains running out of Grand Central or Penn Station either. Scary, especially with all the terrorist threats lately! Agree? or Disagree? or am I worrying too much?

The steam pipe just ruptured. It happened once about 18 years ago. Try not to worry too much, they're getting everything under control and it should be fine in a day or two.

I understand why you're worried, though. The steam billowing between the apartments and rushing down the street brings some pretty horrible memories back to my mind, too.

The plumbing in New York city is older than most of the buildings. It was only a matter of time before something like that happened. You are worrying to much but you do have reason to worry. The images of all that steam running through the streets remind us all of very similar pictures taken only a few years ago.
