no. I think they (men) who invented the whole oooh-aahh-eee thing thought it was funny but also a way to distract the mind from the pain of child birth. It requires you to focus on something other than the pain i.e. easing delivery or so the theory goes.

The only thing that really helped me was my mom rubbing my back right before delivery. Breathing techniques didn't really help much, but I know that they do for some people.

Another no here. Ive had 2 largish children without medication and found that the breathing technique was just annoying.
I think I just focused on actually breathing because I held my breath alot and was tensing with the pain. The breathing/panting you see on TV is such crap.

It depends. With my friend Alicin, she took lamaze classes and they helped her a lot in her delivery.

My other friend Elisha took classes as well and they did not help.

My cousin just bought a video on how to breathe through amazon.com (a lot cheaper than paying for the classes) and they helped her out.

I guess it all depends on how well you can control your own body. Every woman is different therefor, there really shouldn't be a yes or no answer to this because every birthing experience/delivery experience is different.

They helped me when my labor starting hurting when I got to 5 cm, but when I reached 7cm (only 20 minutes later) they didn't help at all anymore. At 7 you start to transition and it hurts the most. I finally just gave up closed my eyes and held my breath, which is exactly the opposite of what they tell you to do but it helped me. My entire labor was only 2 hours, and so my pain was really intense from dialating so fast, and that may have played a role in it.

They didn't for me. Holding my breath made the pain better. Either way I thought I was going to pass out though..

Not at all, it was better to hold my breath. My mom and fiance kept telling me to breathe and it would make it worse and I was just getting fustrated by them telling me to breathe.
