James (Jamie), Jared, Jeremy, Jonathon, Joseph (Joe or Joey).

Jeremy starts with not only a J, but Jer just as the father's name does.

I think James sounds very good with Jermaine.

Jared and Jeremy are my favorite. I like Jamie and Joey, but I personally do not care for the full names of James and Joseph.

Have you considered naming your son after his father, but using Roman Numerals instead of Junior? My son is Randal Allen B., II. In my opinion, it just sounds better than Junior. I do not know if that is why you wish to avoid Junior. You could call him by his middle name, possibly.

Have fun choosing! It is a very difficult task!

If your husband wants a Jr. why not honor his request, but just find a nickname to call your son? You could use Jerri, Jerrod, or Jerome. Lots of people do this so the tradition can be carried on. Just a suggestion.
