first response pregnancy test and checked the result after approx 3 minutes and only the negative result bar was showing. About an hour later I looked at the test again and there was a very faint line showing up. It's 2 days before my period-- Can this be a correct positive?

False positives are VERY rare. I think you should take another test to verify the results. Technically, you are not supposed to read the results. But also, the results could take longer than three minutes to show. Generally it says you can read the test after three minutes, and to disregard any results after ten minutes. However, I have taken literally HUNDREDS of tests and I have never had one change, except when I was pregnant.

I used an EPT and tested the day my period was due. It was initially negative, and then a while later (more than ten minutes, but less than an hour) I noticed it was a faint positive. I was indeed pregnant-he is now 7 years old.

It could be that your hormone levels are still low, and that it just took longer for the results to show up. NOTHING should make the test line turn positive other than the HCG hormone, which your body only produces during pregnancy. The test line has an agent that attracts the dye if the hormone is present, and repels it if not.

I would say that Congratulations are in order. However, I do suggest retesting to be sure.

It could be a positive result, but I would encourage you to test again or just wait to see if you start your period. If you don't start your period, then go to the doctors and have them test it so you can get a sure answer. With my experience, I took a EPT test and it only took seconds for it to give me a positive result, and of course I was pregnant. All the test that gave me a negative result, were all correct. Good Luck, I know your trying to conceive.

That sounds like an evaporation line to me. which means no, it was a negative result. That doesn't mean your not pregnant though, sounds like your testing to soon to know for sure anyways. I took tests almost all week before my period was due cuz I was so anxious. I actually got a positive on the day my period was due.

You have to read the result within a certain time. Read the instructions and it will tell you. Next time throw the test out after the time is up so you don't drive yourself crazy.

You are not supposed to read the results an hour later, it's not valid at that time. I believe that you read the results at 5 minites, so if you only looked at 3 minutes, maybe that line came up a minute after that. You need to take another test to be sure. This time watch it for the full 5 minutes.
