I'm going to be a freshmen in high school and I was never really athletic, but lately I have been intrested in vollyball and softball. I really want to start playing them, but I don't know if I can start as a beginer at this age. I kind of want to try out for our school's teams, but I am afraid that I will not be able to compete at this level. I'm fairly decent at these sports. I can do all of the basics. I'm just scared to try to start something new in a place in which people have been doing this for ten years.

you sure can! i played bball my freshman year of high school and i had little experience playing an organized sport. they will probably put you on the freshman or jv teams, since you havent played those sports. also you can go to sport camps to boost your skills. If you want to play softball in the spring, its good to start practicing now, so you'll be ahead of the game

It's not too late. Go for it. Be sure to follow you coach's advice in all things and focus on getting good at your sport. This is very important. If you focus on avoiding getting hurt, you won't learn to be good. If you're not good, you'll get hurt a lot.

i'm a senior and i just barely started getting into volleyball and wrestling... you don't have to be the best, because there will always be people at the same level you are at!
