Hi everyone,

I would like to read opinions of this location from both residents and visitors. Would like to know about the impression you have, about employment, safety, environment, the people, cost of living, etc. Anything and everything. :)

Thanks everyone!

Upscale, very blue politically, sophisticated, literary and intellectual, granola-y, college town (similar demographics extending over the river to Woodstock and Norwich, Vermont). Served by 3 NPR stations so you can get the idea.

A friend of mine went to Dartmouth and I've visited the place a couple of times.

OK, it gets cold in the winter. Summers are mild, falls are spectacular. That's a given with that part of the world. It's a college town, with all that implies. Dartmouth is going to be an elite school indefinitely, and as a private school you'd think it and the surrounding area will be OK financially. It's a pretty place, thanks to the college.

I certainly would consider living there, other issues not withstanding.

It's a nice area. There is Dartmouth college and Mary Hitchcock Hospital. Long cold winters though.
