My family an I are thinking about moving to Orlando, Florida. We can afford to buy a house at any price up to about $450,000. Is Orlando, Florida a nice place to live?

Right now in Florida you can shop all you want for a house in that price range. It is a buyer's market all over the state. Just make sure you have home owner's insurance lined up.
You might look at the Sarasota/Bradenton area. It is a nice area and convenient to Tampa and Orlando.

lived here for 2 years, moved from Canada. I live to the west in Winter Garden, great place to live, far enough away from the downtown scene, and don't really have to use I-4 which is a nightmare, becasue we have the turnpike right there. There is a brand new huge mall going up, which is opening in the fall, and new developments going up every day. FOr your price I am sure you'll find a great new home, it is a buyers market. There are very nice communities over here, which most of them are gated as well.

Yes, Orlando is a good city with many neighborhoods and a strong economey. Your price range is very good for Orlando, you should be able to find a nice house in a good neighborhood for that price. Here are some neighborhoods I recommend in Orlando:

Baldwin Park

Lake Nona

EAST Downtown Orlando
(Lots of Condos & Established Neighborhoods)

Winter Park (Suburb North of Downtown)

In addition, here some good websites for relocation assistance:

Orlando Sentinel (Local Paper)

Orange County Government

Good Luck.

Lots of tourists.
Traffic.
Crime, etc.
Hot, Hot, Hot.

You are better off living in a surrounding community and commuting to Orlando.

I think any place is nice to live once you get use to it and now your surroundings. You will find it intresting to live in a place that you never been to. Even if you find it not so intresting, once you get along with your surroundings, you will like it!!!
