well, on this website if you scroll down to intro or verse 1 or whatever it has a staff type thing with numbers and stuff. i understand the picking up and down but what do the numbers mean?? i know that the 6 lines count for the 6 strings but i don't know about the numbers..plezzzz help!! thanks!!!!

That is guitar tablature. The numbers are the frets you press with your fingers on your left hand while plucking the guitar string it indicates with your right.

it's a more formal musical way of saying that for every four beats there are four notes (or something like that it's been a while since i've seen it)
