Hi
Just over forty seven and a half sq yds, if you need this sum for tiling check how many tiles per box, the amount varies and can be misleading.

To calculate this put the measurements in feet into yards by dividing by 3 (as there are 3 feet in a yard):
13/3=4.333333 & 11/3=3.666666

then multiply together to get the area in square yards:
4.333333 x 3.666666 = 15.89 square yards
Or 13/3 x 11/3 = 143/9 square yards

13 * 11 / 9 = 15 8/9 yd^2

The area is 13 ft * 11 ft = 143 ft^2.

To convert units, just multiply in the conversion and cancel out the units just as you'd cancel any number or variable present in both the numerator and denominator. It's okay to multiply by (1yd/3ft) because those are identical measures -- you're in effect multiplying by 1:

143 ft*ft * (1yd / 3ft) * (1yd / 3ft) =
143 (ft * ft * yd * yd) / 9 (ft * ft) =
143/9 yd*yd =
15.8889 yd^2

13*11 = 143 square feet.
There are 3 feet in a yard
Now convert to yards, so take 143/3 = 47.667 square yards

1 yard = 3 ft

1 squared yard = (1 yard ) * (1yard)
1 squared yard = (3 ft ) * (3 ft) = 9 (ft * ft)

divided by 9
(1/9) squared yard = 1 (ft * ft)
or
1 (ft * ft) = (1/9) squared yard

area = 13ft * 11ft
= (13*11) (ft * ft)
= 143 (ft*ft)
= 143 * ( 1/9 squared yard)
= 15.89 squared yard

1 ft = (1/3) yd

1 ft^2 = 1/3^2 yd^2 = (1/9) yd^2

11*13 = 143 ft^2 = 143/9 = 15.89 yd^2

Don't forget you shoud use SI (tell your teachers!)

1 ft = 0.3048 m
