The way i did it when i first came to this country was to basically sit down everynight at home with a dictionary and learning as many vocabulary words as possible. I was also translating my history chapters or english chapters in my language so i could make sense of them. And trust me i'm not saying this is the easy way. It's honestly difficult. Also try to be around as maeny speaking english people as you can, that certainly helps. You will feel clueless in the beginning but you will start to put two and two together and be able to understand more and more english each day. Hope this helps.

talking to english speaking ppl and make friend with them, then hangout. u could also read books, newspaper, when u encounter words that u don't understand, take out a dictionary and study them. Watching tv can 1st, help ur listening skill, 2nd, conversations on the tv provide correct pronounciations. 3rd, when u watch tv, listen to it, pay close attention at ppl's action, those helps to improve ur understanding of the meaning. learning another language takes time.

speak it to english speaking people as much as you can, listen to english speaking radio maybe, try reading in english and watch english movies... but the more you speak it the more you will learn! And don't be afraid to make mistakes... you'll learn from them as well...
