i hit somethintg while mowing, replaced blade...altho looked fine. mower starts but vibrates badly. i guess shaft is bent? is it easy to get out and rebend/repair? what is real name for the shaft?

The part you most likely bent is the crankshaft. It is the main shaft in the engine. It is not likely that you can bend it back straight. Even if you did it would be prone to breaking. The engine would have to come off and be taken completly apart. It is not a simple job nor is it especially cheap. Are you sure that the shaft is bent? Take the blade back off and the blade adaptor. Remove the spark plug, tip the mower up so that you can see under it, air filter up. Hold something next to the shaft and have someone slowly turn the engine with the cord. You should be able to see if the shaft is bent by the wobble between it and the object you are holding.

is this a push mwer or rider?if its a push mower,trash it and get a new one.a new mower is cheaper than trying to fix a bent crank shaft.if its a rider you can order new parts online depending on the make of mower you have and how old it is.
