does anyone know how long company has to keep its accident records?

My father worked for Haliburton, and was killed in 1978 in the Persian Gulf.. Haliburton said they dont have the records to the accident..They were destroyed..

My grandson now works for Haliburton, they have records somewhere.
I just got the records for my grandfathers coal company he worked for in 1912 in Pennsylvania, his friend was killed in a mine accident, they still had the records on file. Thought you may be interested.
