I havent seen my father since I was 5, except in court hearings. He lived down the street from my sister and I for 9 years, and never saw us one time. Some Men are just not ment to be fathers. I know it hurts but it sounds like your father is one of those guys too. I wonder if your dad and my dad are friends? The only thing I can say is try to move on without him, you will be much better off if you beleive he is the one messing up. Remember that always, its not your fault. If you ever need someone to talk to about this feel free to e-mail me anytime. Good Luck!

I will assume given you are chatting with your Dad via IM, you want some level of relationship with him. Perhaps this is where your comfort remains and you are certainly not under any obligation to take it further, ie: face to face contact.

However, you need to be honest with your Dad so he is not under the wrong impression you want more than your current set up. Be direct as anything else may come back and bite you on the butt one day. If your Dad become insistent about seeing you face to face, ask him to respect your feelings and not to pursue the issue again.

I think it's great you are at least chatting with your Dad and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with him this way.

If he actually asked why would he want to see you, then he isn't worthy of your love, it will hurt, but i will bet that you will be better off without someone that could say that to their own child
