This is in PA... my friend was just sentenced on his DUI. I know that he had an alcohol education class that he had to attend prior to his hearing. At his hearing, he went up with a group of 5 or 6 other people. I guess all of them were pleading guilty (I know that my friend was). Anyway, the judge sentenced them to ARD, suspended his license for 60 days, and he is on probation for one year. Also fines. This is on a first offense DUI.

If you are guilty in my Kingdom, you go to jail, and come out never able to get a driver's license again.

What happens where you live probably depends on how much attorney you bought.

if you plead guilty, you are sentenced then; i.e. loss of drivers license, fines, jail time, or community service.
if you plead not guilty, it will just get continued like 2 or 3 times.

The judge will explain the charges to you and ask you for your plea. If you plead guilty, he will sentence you. If you plead innocent, he will schedule a trial date.

At least you don't get the feeling that you've been watching Huge Ego's (Hugo Chavez) Socialist TV like you get with CNN/CBS.
